Events in 2023-2024 - The Board met during the summer to plan imaginative ways to meet, do worthwhile service, have educational events/workshops, and fun social activities. Some are virtual events plus creative ways to do altruistic work, and many are safe in-person events. Up-to-the-minute details are posted on our PAC email group and Facebook group and Instagram group (see below on how to join these groups to get the latest info on upcoming events and new ones as they pop up). September 2023 - Our first regular event was the Alpha Gam Always Brunch on Saturday, September 30th at Pinstripes, Pike and Rose Center, 11920 Grand Park Avenue, North Bethesda, MD from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM. Thanks to Colette Releford for coordinating this.
November 2023 - On Wednesday, November 1st, we did our annual Taco Dinner for the Rockville Women's Shelter. We provided meat and toppings for almost 40 residents. Thanks to Patti Conville for coordinating. Attached, see a picture of about half the sisters participating.
June 2024 - We plan to hold officer installations and a pre-planning meeting for 2024-2025.
August 2024 - We usually have a final planning meeting by early August and plan another at a restaurant again this year. Stay tuned on the Facebook, Instagram and Email groups and here for details closer to the time.
Special Events - We will add additional impromptu social and philanthropy events announced through the AGD-PAC Facebook, Instagram and Email Groups as info becomes available (see below on how to join the groups). For instance, one special event was completing 75 soft plush "piggy" toys for the sick children at NIH. It was fun and the piggies were so cute (click here to see some). In others, we arranged to hear all about foraging and the organic life or attended a presentation on "suffragettes", Museum Live events, happy hours, "Brookside Holiday Lights", May 30th Founders dinner-out, and many more. Sisters, please suggest what you particularly want to do -- service op, happy hour, restaurant, movie, game night, watch/play sports, picnic, barbeque, tea/coffee, mall event, home shopping night, opera/play/musical, family event, children's play date, class/demo/workshop, tour, book club, walk/run, nature hike, museum/gallery, potluck, cookie swap, or whatever else tickles your fancy. If you think of something, send a group email through AGD-PAC on what you want to do and when or do so through our Facebook group, so sisters can join in (see below) or email an officer if you prefer.

On Tuesday, November 14th, we met via Zoom at 7:00 pm with undergrads at University of Ohio, our Adopt-A-Chapter. It is fun to connect with the undergrads and find out how we can help them. They thanked us for our latest care package. If you can send a care package to the Zeta's during the year, contact Joan Schrager at joanjig@aol.com. The Zeta's reported that they raised $4,000 for fighting hunger initiatives. For a picture of some Zeta's, click here.

Our wrapped squirrel gift exchange was also great fun. As part of the event, sisters donated many boxes of supplies to the food pantry. To see a picture of the 14 sisters, click here. Also, on December 16th, several sisters attended the 250th Anniversary Commemoration of the Boston Tea Party in Vienna, VA.

January 2024 - On Saturday, January 13th at 2pm, PAC sisters participated in a special in-person presentation by an area Ornithology and Native Plant Enthusiast Tim Resch in the home of a friend of the Permanent Secretary Janice Fisher near the intersection of the ICC and Layhill Road. The topic was "Birding Ecuador" and introduced endemic and migratory birds, bird identification techniques, and pictures of some rare and spectacular birds encountered on a 10-day birding trip this Fall to the Choco-Andres Region under the auspices of the MD Ornithological Society. Sisters enjoyed the excellent presentation and socializing and even a couple of husbands attended.

January and February Officer Nominations - In January, nominations were gathered for new officers for the coming year for election in late February. Next year we are hosting IRD. If you are interested in coordinating or helping, contact Joan or Collette.

Sisters donated gifts and all the goodies and trimmings of a great birthday party including cake and ice cream. April 2024 - International Reunion Day - Old Dominion Alumnae Club will host IRD 2024 for the three alumnae groups and undergrads. The theme is Connections. Save the date - Sundary April 7, 2024, at Maggiano's Tysons II from 1-4 pm. Check our Facebook, Instagram, and Email Groups and back here as Old Dominion announces more details.
May 2024 - We are planning a weekend group tour of Dunbarton Oaks in Washington DC. Check the Facebook, Instagram, and Email Groups and back here for more details closer to the event. Last year we visited Hillwood Estate Museum and Gardens and had a Tea and over a dozen sisters participated.

Anyone interested in contributing time, items, ideas or funds to PAC is invited to share with us the joy of service and sisterhood. Annual support fees are $30, and since we do not have a collegiate chapter contributing funds to us, they are our only regular income. But you are welcome to come in any case, anytime, always our sister. Support fees or other donations can be sent to PAC's Treasurer, Debbie Finch. You can contact her at purplefinchd@yahoo.com for mailing directions or PayPal method.
Facebook - An easy way to keep up with events as they unfold is to join our Facebook Group - Alpha Gamma Delta Potomac Alumnae Chapter. You will be asked for your name, chapter, and initiation year.
Instagram - The group name is AGD_PAC_Alumnae. This is the newest of our Keeping in Touch options.

Email Group - We have our email group on Google Groups. Any sister who wishes to be added and get periodic emails with details about upcoming events, just email Janice Fisher at jfpfisher@verizon.net and tell her your name, chapter, initiation year, and the email at which you wish to receive the group emails. She will set you up and you will receive a Welcome email and immediately start getting the group emails. You may also send emails to the group. It is a great way to stay in touch, totally private, secure, and you get the same postings as through the Facebook Group so you can pick whichever fits you best or sign up for both.
Newsletter - We publish an annual newsletter by September that any sister anywhere can get. See the Newsletter page for details. To get onto the newsletter list, contact Janice Fisher at jfpfisher@verizon.net.
